The Presiding Bishop of Victory Bible Church International, Bishop N.A. Tackie-Yarboi, has proposed a review of Ghana’s presidential tenure, suggesting a single six-year term without the option for re-election.
Speaking on Ghone TV, Bishop Tackie-Yarboi explained that the current four-year mandate is too short for any administration to effectively implement its policies and deliver meaningful outcomes.
“I wish we could replace the current four-year presidential tenure with a single six-year term with no option for re-election,” he stated.
His remarks contribute to the ongoing national debate on whether Ghana should amend its Constitution to allow presidents more time to execute their development agenda.
Bishop Tackie-Yarboi’s proposal aligns with calls from some political analysts and civil society groups who have also suggested that a constitutional review could help strengthen Ghana’s democratic governance.
