Former Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed confidence that Benjamin Asare will reclaim his place as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper once he fully recovers from injury.

Asare, who is also the Black Stars’ preferred option between the posts, has been sidelined for several weeks after sustaining an injury during the November international break.

His absence has opened the door for Solomon Agbasi, who has impressed with a series of assured performances for the Phobians.

Agbasi’s fine form has sparked debate over whether Asare will walk straight back into the starting XI when he regains fitness.

However, Ouattara believes the experienced goalkeeper remains Hearts of Oak’s safest option and will ultimately regain his spot.

“Solomon Agbasi is doing extremely well, but the fact is Benjamin Asare still remains the number one for Hearts of Oak, and he needs to take over when he is fully fit,” the Ivorian trainer told Top FM.

Asare is understood to be eager to return to competitive action as he continues his recovery.

Regular playing time will be crucial for the goalkeeper as he looks to regain top form and secure his place in the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
