Entrepreneur, engineer and author, Kwabena Obeng Darko, has urged Ghanaians to prioritise financial education and effective planning as key tools for achieving financial freedom and reducing poverty.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme as part of the “Beginning the Year Right” series, Mr Obeng Darko encouraged individuals to take stock of their income and develop practical strategies to manage, save and invest their earnings wisely.
He stressed that understanding one’s income is the foundation of sound financial management, adding that people who spend excessively without saving must make deliberate efforts to change such habits.
According to him, budgeting, proper accounting of income and expenditure, and having a clear financial vision are critical steps towards attaining financial stability.
Mr Obeng Darko further encouraged Ghanaians to explore side hustles and investment opportunities that align with their skills and address societal needs, cautioning against dependence on a single source of income.
He noted that investments should be based on one’s personal circumstances and areas of knowledge and control, urging individuals to remain persistent in their pursuit of financial independence.
He also advised people to surround themselves with individuals who can promote financial discipline, emphasising that building a solid financial foundation requires commitment, discipline and continuous learning.
