Senior Advisor to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Fred Oware, says the former Vice President remains the overwhelming choice of the party’s grassroots.
According to him, if the NPP’s flagbearer election were conducted today, Dr Bawumia would secure a resounding victory owing to his popularity and the trust he enjoys among delegates.
Speaking in an interview on Pure FM on Wednesday, August 27, Mr Oware said the Vice President’s strong support base has only grown since the primaries.
“From the support we continue to see across the country, there is no doubt that if the election were held today, Dr Bawumia would win massively. His message continues to resonate, and our delegates know the future of the NPP is safe with him,” he stated.
He emphasised that Dr Bawumia’s track record, particularly his leadership in economic management and digital transformation during his tenure as Vice President, has endeared him to the rank and file of the party.
“The delegates and the ordinary Ghanaian can testify to the work he has done. That is why his support base has only grown stronger since the primaries,” Mr Oware added.
He further urged party members to remain united behind Dr Bawumia as the NPP prepares for the 2024 general elections, stressing that internal cohesion will be key to securing victory.
“This is the time for us to rally behind our candidate. Unity is our strength, and with Dr Bawumia at the helm, the NPP is poised for success,” he said.
