Excitement filled Taviefe Senior High School as school authorities, students, teachers, and traditional leaders gathered for the sod-cutting ceremony for a solar-powered mechanised borehole and electricity system, fully funded by Republic Bank.

The project, expected to be completed within three months, aims to address the school’s long-standing challenges with access to potable water and reliable electricity. The ceremony brought together school officials, community members, and traditional leaders, who all expressed appreciation to the bank for the timely intervention.

In an interview with Adom News, Republic Bank Managing Director Benjamin Dzoboku explained that the initiative forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts. “We remain committed to supporting education and improving living and learning conditions in communities where we operate,” he said.

Mr. Dzoboku highlighted that access to clean water and sustainable energy is critical to effective teaching and learning, particularly in boarding schools such as Taviefe SHS. He added that the solar-powered system would ensure a reliable water supply while promoting environmental sustainability.

Headmaster Sadrack Abiwu expressed gratitude to Republic Bank for responding to the school’s needs, describing the project as a major boost to both academic and domestic activities on campus. He noted that the borehole would significantly ease the burden on students, especially during the dry season.

Traditional leaders commended the bank for its development-focused support and pledged the community’s commitment to safeguarding and maintaining the facility upon completion.

Students, visibly excited, said the project would improve their comfort and concentration, ultimately enhancing academic performance.

The solar-powered mechanised borehole and electricity project is expected to be completed and commissioned within three months, marking a major step forward in improving infrastructure at Taviefe SHS and benefiting the surrounding community.
