The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has assured residents of the Western North Region that the NDC is committed to ensuring fair and balanced development of the six regions created in 2019.

He said the NDC remains the only political party capable of translating the creation of the new regions into tangible development, insisting that the Western North Region would not be left behind under an NDC-led government.

Mr Asiedu Nketia gave the assurance during a two-day “Thank You Tour” of the Western North Region, where he met with clergy, traditional authorities, party executives, party supporters and residents across several districts.

His visit covered Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Sefwi Wiawso, Bia West, Bia East, Juaboso, Bodi, Akontombra, Suaman and Aowin.

Addressing residents in Juaboso, the NDC Chairman expressed gratitude for the massive support the party received in the region, particularly during what he described as challenging political times. He commended the people for standing firmly with the party and reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to their development needs.

Mr Asiedu Nketia said the government plans to construct a regional hospital in the Western North to improve healthcare delivery, adding that other major infrastructural projects being undertaken in older regions would also be extended to the area.

He argued that while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) created the regions administratively, it would take the NDC to fully develop them.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Sefwi Abrokofe, Nana Kwabena Yeboah II, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Sefwi Boinzan, expressed appreciation to the government for the appointment of the Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, as Minister of Health, and Nana Ofori Ahenkan II as Board Chairman of the Ghana National Fire Service.

He said the appointments have already had a positive impact on the district.

Nana Kwabena Yeboah II, however, appealed to the government to address the poor state of roads in the area and tackle unemployment, which he said continues to push many young people into social vices.

The Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, assured residents that government would prioritise road infrastructure in the district, mentioning the Juaboso Barrier–Bonsu Nkwanta road and other key routes earmarked for improvement.
