The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has apologised to residents of Adenta over comments made by the regional organizer, Anthony Nukpenu, regarding the deplorable state of the Adenta–Lakeside road.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Ashie Moore said the remarks by Mr. Nukpenu were unfortunate and did not reflect the position of the NDC or the government.
“On behalf of the NDC Greater Accra, the party executives, and the President, I apologise for that statement. We promised to fix the roads, and we are asking the people to be patient with us,” he said.
The former Adentan MP assured residents that he would personally lead a delegation to the constituency to ensure the Lakeside road is fixed, adding that discussions are already underway with the Minister for Roads and Highways.
“I will personally lead a delegation to the constituency to ensure the Lakeside road is fixed. We are only 10 months into the government. Development will soon follow. We are a listening government, and we appreciate the people of Adenta for their support,” he added.
His comments come after Mr. Nukpenu sparked outrage by suggesting that residents should organise themselves to repair the road if they believed the government was not acting quickly enough.
