Interim Management Committee (IMC) chairman of Asante Kotoko, Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the club’s recent performances despite a return to winning ways.
Kotoko bounced back with a Premier League victory over Dreams FC on Sunday after suffering consecutive defeats to Basake Holy Stars and Hohoe United. However, Nana Apinkrah said the team’s overall display has fallen short of the club’s standards.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the club’s new supporters’ chairman on Saturday, December 13, he stated: “Since returning from the African competition, our performance has been far from convincing.”
“We have lost only two games, but the overall display has not met the standard expected of Kotoko,” he added.
Nana Apinkrah revealed that concerns over the team’s form were raised during a recent technical meeting, where both the coaching staff and players were urged to improve immediately.
“During our recent technical meeting, we made it clear to both the coaching staff and players that they must elevate their performance immediately. If the necessary improvements are not made, further action will follow,” he warned.
Asante Kotoko currently sit third on the Ghana Premier League table with 24 points from 14 matches and will look to build on their recent win when they face Eleven Wonders in Matchday 15.
