Asante Kotoko’s Karim Zito urges positive mindset ahead of Kwara United clash

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito, has emphasized that the right attitude and mindset will be crucial for the team ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to face Nigerian side Kwara United in the first leg of the 2025/26 preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 21.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Zito highlighted the importance of mental preparation, noting that the team must be ready to play away from their home stadium.

“You have to believe in your situation and be honest with yourself. This is the reality we are facing. Immediately after the Berekum Chelsea game, we move to Accra, so the mentality has to be ‘Accra,’” he said.

“The perception should be Accra, because that is where we are going to play in Africa, whether we like it or not. After that, we travel again. It all comes down to attitude and mindset,” he added.

Kotoko will travel to Nigeria for the return leg against Kwara United at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium on Sunday, September 28.
