Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has etched his name into Premier League history, becoming the first Ghanaian player to score 13 goals in a single English top-flight season.
The 26-year-old reached the milestone on Wednesday night, finding the net in City’s comfortable 3–0 victory over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.
In doing so, Semenyo surpassed a long-standing Ghanaian record previously held by Tony Yeboah. The former Leeds United striker scored 12 league goals in both the 1994/95 and 1995/96 seasons, a tally later matched by Andre Ayew during his time at Swansea City in the 2015/16 campaign.
Semenyo had flirted with history last season, finishing the 2024/25 campaign with 11 goals, but has now gone one step further to stand alone as the most prolific Ghanaian scorer in a single Premier League season.
Since making the step up from the Championship, he has continued to grow in stature, establishing himself as one of the league’s most consistent attacking threats.
Although he only joined Manchester City during the winter transfer window, Semenyo has quickly become an important figure in Pep Guardiola’s side as they push for the Premier League title.
He will look to maintain his impressive form this weekend when City welcome lower-tier opponents Salford FC in the FA Cup.
