The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga, Sandra Seyram Kpedor, in collaboration with traditional authorities and the Volta Regional Environmental Health Directorate, has issued a stern warning to residents who fail to participate in the National Sanitation Day clean-up exercise.
Speaking during the exercise at Anloga, Mrs. Kpedor emphasized that sanitation is a shared responsibility, stressing that neglecting communal clean-up activities worsens environmental conditions in communities. She cautioned that defaulters would be prosecuted in accordance with the law to serve as a deterrent to others.
The Volta Regional Environmental Health Director, Madam Stella Kumedzro, highlighted the importance of the exercise, noting that regular participation in sanitation activities is crucial in preventing outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, malaria, and typhoid. She urged residents to view the initiative not as a government imposition but as a civic duty that protects public health.
For his part, Togbui Tudoabor III, Chief of Anloga Lashibi, reaffirmed the commitment of traditional authorities to enforce sanitation by-laws, warning that offenders will face legal consequences if they continue to shirk their responsibilities.
The National Sanitation Day initiative, introduced to encourage nationwide clean-up exercises, continues to play a vital role in promoting healthy communities across the country.
