The Ghana Prisons Service has debunked viral social media reports alleging developments concerning Madam Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Agradaa, who is currently serving her sentence at the Nsawam Female Prison.
Viral reports suggested that Agradaa is on a crying spree and she is physically unwell, struggling with swollen legs.
The accounts added that she is being treated specially in prison by her family doctor, at least four times a week.
However, in a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Deputy Director of Prisons Janet Asabea, the Service described the reports as false and misleading.
The misinformation, according to the service is being circulated by some social media account, deliberately to gain more followers using sensational headlines such as “Breaking news from Nsawam.”
The service added that the misinformation is a ploy by the operators to cause mayhem and should be disregarded.
“The Service is committed to ensuring the safe custody, reformation and rehabilitation of inmates to make them law-abiding citizens,” the statement said.
The public has therefore been urged to rely only on official communication from the Ghana Prisons Service regarding matters involving inmates.
