Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on all New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirants to conduct issue-based campaigns anchored in mutual respect as the party gears up for its January 31, 2026, primaries.

Addressing a breakfast meeting with the five aspirants at his private residence in Nima, Accra, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the former President emphasized the need for a clean contest that fosters party unity and cohesion ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He commended the aspirants for their service to both the party and the nation, urging them to campaign on ideas rather than resort to personal attacks. “Our focus must remain on strengthening the NPP and presenting a united front to Ghanaians,” he noted.

Mr. Akufo-Addo reaffirmed that his foremost priority is ensuring the unity of the party and the credibility of the primary process.

The five aspirants, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, pledged to conduct their campaigns with integrity and support the eventual winner to preserve party harmony.

The meeting was attended by key party figures, including Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Danquah Smith Buttey, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.

The former President concluded by urging the party leadership to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process.
