The overgrown vegetation surrounding the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) staff bungalows has been cleared following reports highlighting the potential danger of bushfires.
Adom News had earlier reported that the newly constructed ORCC staff bungalows at Yabram were at risk due to thick weeds that had overrun the area because of neglect.
The bungalows, intended to accommodate ORCC staff upon completion, had been left untended, forcing the Regional Chief Director and the Regional Minister to continue struggling for permanent residential accommodation.

In response, the Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, ordered the immediate clearing of the vegetation around the facilities. A follow-up visit by Adom News confirmed that the weeds had been removed and fire belts created around the bungalows to prevent potential bushfires.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Gyapong lamented the high number of abandoned projects in the region, attributing the situation to the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. He noted that Oti remains the only one among the six newly created regions with numerous uncompleted infrastructure projects.
The minister revealed that several appeals made to the Ministry of Local Government and Decentralisation for the completion of the bungalows had gone unanswered. He argued that the region leads in abandoned projects, claiming the previous NPP government failed to complete both inherited and newly initiated initiatives.
Mr. Gyapong has appealed to President John Mahama to intervene and ensure the completion of all stalled projects, including roads, to fully realise the purpose for which the Oti Region was created.
