The Muslim community in Adansi has inaugurated Alhaji Alhassan Mubarik as their new Chief Imam, emphasising the need for unity and peaceful coexistence among Muslims in the area.

The ceremony, held in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, also saw the induction of five deputy Imams to support the new Chief Imam in his duties.

Speaking to Adom News after the event, Naa Mohammed Awal Abubakar III, the Adansi Dagomba Chief, noted that Alhaji Mubarik was the rightful successor, having served as the immediate deputy to the late Chief Imam.

He urged the new leadership to uphold peace, promote understanding, and serve as a unifying force within the Muslim community.

“The Chief Imam must lead by example and be a symbol of unity for all. We are one people, and peace is the foundation of our progress,” Naa Awal emphasized.

In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Alhassan Mubarik pledged to foster harmony among Muslims and strengthen relationships with other faith communities.

He highlighted the community’s existing cordial relations with churches and other religious groups, promising to preserve and build upon these ties.

“Our goal is to maintain and enhance the peace we already have. Together, we can ensure unity and mutual respect among all residents,” the new Chief Imam assured.
