The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adaklu Waya, Jerry Ameko, has commenced construction works on the long-neglected Adaklu Seva Junction–Mafi Kumasi road as part of efforts to improve accessibility and boost socio-economic activities in the district.

The road, which has remained in a deplorable condition for years, serves as a vital link for several farming communities, traders, and commuters within Adaklu Waya and surrounding areas. Its poor state has hindered the movement of people and goods, particularly during the rainy season, resulting in high transportation costs and frequent vehicle breakdowns.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News at the start of the project, Hon. Ameko reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing quality road infrastructure to support development.

He explained that the rehabilitation of the Adaklu Seva Junction–Mafi Kumasi stretch forms part of a broader agenda to open up rural communities, improve road safety, and stimulate local economic growth.

“This road is very important to our people. Improving it will ease transportation challenges and enhance access to markets, schools, health facilities, and other social services,” he said.

The DCE expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Agbodza, who also serves as Minister for Roads and Highways, for their support towards development in the district.

The project is expected to include reshaping, gravelling, drainage improvements, and other engineering works to ensure the road remains motorable throughout the year. Contractors on site have assured residents of quality work and strict adherence to the project timeline.

Residents and community leaders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and long overdue. Many believe the project will significantly improve livelihoods, especially for farmers who rely on the route to transport produce to major markets in Mafi Kumasi and beyond.

Mr Ameko has called on residents to cooperate with contractors to ensure the smooth execution of the project, which is expected to be completed within 18 months.
