The expansion of the Accra-Tema Motorway is expected to be completed by August 2, 2027, following the settlement of outstanding debts owed to contractors.
This assurance was given by Project Manager Ben Sackey during an inspection led by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, on March 31.
According to the project team, there are currently no plans to extend the completion date, with officials expressing confidence in meeting the timeline.
However, contractors raised concerns about potential delays, particularly the relocation of utility lines, which they described as a complex process that could affect progress if not handled efficiently.
The 19.5-kilometre project, which commenced on January 2, 2024, involves expanding the stretch from the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange to the Tema Roundabout into a 10-lane motorway.
Despite earlier setbacks, officials remain optimistic that the project will be completed on schedule, easing traffic congestion and improving movement along the busy corridor.
