On a day filled with gratitude, colour, and pride, Mackristy Academy marked a significant milestone, ten remarkable years of nurturing minds, shaping character, and building a legacy of excellence.
Parents, staff, students, alumni, community leaders, and distinguished guests gathered to celebrate a journey that began with a simple dream and has grown into an inspiring institution of learning and leadership.
A vision that became a legacy
Founded in 2015 by the visionary couple Mr. and Mrs. Odame, affectionately known as Mark and Christy, Mackristy Academy started with just twelve pupils and ten staff members in Lomnava along the Ofankor Barrier–Kwashieman road.
From these humble beginnings, the school was built on firm values, faith, discipline, academic excellence, and holistic development, values that continue to guide it today.
The name MACKRISTY, a blend of the founders’ names, symbolizes their shared commitment to nurturing young minds and uplifting the community through quality education.
Words of Gratitude and Purpose
In a heartfelt message, the Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Bamfo, reflected on the school’s journey.
“What began as a vision to nurture young minds and shape future leaders has blossomed into a thriving institution that stands as a beacon of academic excellence, character development, and community impact.”
He commended the dedication of staff, the unwavering support of parents, and the brilliance of students, emphasizing that the anniversary was not just about counting years, but celebrating the values of integrity, innovation, and inclusivity.
Ten Years Strong
From the Head Teacher’s Desk, Samuel Osei Assibey described the decade as “a legacy in bloom.” He highlighted the school’s proud academic record, including the presentation of five successful BECE batches, all of whom excelled and gained admission into some of Ghana’s most prestigious senior high schools such as Achimota SHS, Aburi Girls SHS, and KNUST SHS.
“Mackristy Academy is not just ten years old—it is ten years strong,” he affirmed.
A History Told by a Student
Adding a special touch to the celebration, student Prisca Acquah read the school’s history, recounting Mackristy Academy’s growth from a modest beginning into a respected educational institution in the Ga Central Municipality and beyond.
Her narration reminded all present that Mackristy’s story is not only about academic results, but about building performance, competence, confidence, and leadership.
Celebrating Excellence Beyond the Classroom
The anniversary celebration was rich with vibrant activities that reflected the school’s commitment to holistic education.
Highlights included:
• A colourful cadet parade, later commended by the MP for Anyaa–Sowutuom as a sign of a promising future
• Cultural performances showcasing Ghanaian heritage
• Poem recitations and performances by lower primary learners
• A joyful procession by the school choir
• The ceremonial cake cutting
• The official launch of the 10th Anniversary Magazine by the Head Teacher
A special moment was the presentation of a citation in honour of Mr. Mark Odame, recognizing his vision, dedication, and lasting impact on the school.

The celebration was further enriched by speeches from key stakeholders.
Madam Millicent Atta Morte, representing the Ga Central Municipal Education Director, delivered an insightful address on “The Ghanaian Child Education – Parents as Stakeholders,” emphasizing the vital role of parents in education.
Mr. Nicholas Odame, a member of the Board of Directors, encouraged students, staff, and parents to remain united and committed to the school’s shared goals.
