The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, has urged 125 newly commissioned officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to uphold professionalism, integrity, and patriotism in the performance of their duties.

Mr. Amadu delivered the charge during a passing-out parade at the Immigration Academy in Assin Fosu.

Addressing the officers, he reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to strengthening its human resource capacity through continuous training and development.

He assured the officers of ongoing efforts to equip personnel with the skills and resources needed to respond effectively to emerging security threats, while fostering collaboration with border officials and host communities.

He urged the newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Immigration (ASIs) to recognise the importance of their roles and to serve with vigilance, discipline, and dedication.

The CGI emphasized that their promotion comes with increased responsibility to protect Ghana’s borders and safeguard national security. He encouraged them to apply the knowledge acquired in modern technology, intelligence gathering, and border management operations in the execution of their duties.

The officers, drawn from various recruitment batches, successfully completed a seven-week intensive training programme designed to enhance their leadership skills, reinforce discipline, and prepare them for higher responsibilities within the Service.

Cadet Officer Michael Obeng Odame emerged as the overall best cadet, a distinction that reflects the high standards of excellence upheld at the Academy.

Mr. Amadu commended the Commandant and his team for their dedication and professionalism in training the officers, describing the achievement as a testament to their commitment to excellence.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the Service’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its human resource base in response to evolving migration trends and border security challenges.

The event was attended by senior officers of the Service, including Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI) Maud Anima Quainoo, Head of Public Affairs; DCOI Francis Palmdeti, Head of Training; DCOI Yaw Asare Bediako, Central Regional Commander; DCOI Alex Adu, Commandant of the Immigration Academy; Assistant Commissioner of Immigration Kwabena Koduah Addai, Commanding Officer of the Immigration Training School, Assin Fosu; as well as representatives from sister security agencies.
