The Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Mohammed Baabakaki, together with Lebanese businessman and philanthropist Mohammed Addams Riai, has donated essential resources to the Ghana Police Service to strengthen operational efficiency and improve public safety.

The donation, valued at around GH¢2 million, comprises three Nissan Navara pickups for operational deployment, 20 Apsonic motorbikes to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response, as well as 20 43-inch televisions and 30 air conditioning units to upgrade facilities at the Police Hospital and improve patient care.

The gesture forms part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the strong bilateral ties between Ghana and Lebanon, while supporting the Police Service’s mandate in community policing and national security.

Speaking at the official presentation ceremony at the Police Headquarters, Ambassador Baabakaki described the initiative as a reflection of the enduring partnership between the Lebanese community and the Ghana Police Service—one rooted in mutual support, logistical collaboration, and shared security objectives.

He emphasized that the donation builds on a consistent track record of support from the Lebanese Embassy, which has previously contributed vehicles, equipment, and scholarship opportunities for police personnel.

Commending the Ghana Police Service for its commitment to national security, he expressed confidence that the donated items would significantly enhance operational effectiveness.

Philanthropist Mohammed Addams Riai highlighted that his contribution was driven by a deep sense of responsibility as a resident in Ghana. He noted his longstanding commitment to supporting meaningful causes, including assistance to schools and public institutions across various regions.

“I am particularly pleased that part of this support will improve conditions at the Police Hospital, ultimately benefiting the general public,” he stated.

Receiving the donation, the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, expressed profound appreciation, describing the intervention as both timely and impactful.

“These items will significantly aid our work, especially the motorbikes, which will help us fight crime more effectively,” the IGP noted.

He further disclosed that two of the pickup vehicles would be deployed to the IGP’s Special Operations Team, with the third assigned to monitor police operational activities nationwide.

The IGP also commended Ambassador Baabakaki, Mr. Riai, and the Lebanese business community in Ghana for their sustained support, emphasizing that their contributions underscore the strong and cordial relationship between Ghana and Lebanon.

On behalf of the Ghana Police Service, he assured that the items would be utilized responsibly to enhance policing and public safety, while encouraging other individuals and organizations to emulate such impactful initiatives.
