The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to pay Otto Addo after parting ways with the former Black Stars head coach.

Addo, who returned to lead the national team in March 2024 on a three-year contract with a two-year extension option, replaced Chris Hughton following Ghana’s group-stage exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

His second tenure ended after consecutive defeats in the March international window, as Ghana fell 5-1 to Austria in Vienna and 2-1 to Germany in Stuttgart, part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

While the GFA has not officially confirmed the compensation figure, reports indicate that Addo, earning $50,000 per month, is expected to receive around $500,000 for the remaining ten months of his contract.

Addo’s record with the Black Stars includes 22 matches, with eight wins, five draws, and nine losses.

With the coaching position now vacant, names such as Marc Brys, Tom Saintfiet, and Hervé Renard have been linked to the role.

The Black Stars will regroup in May, facing Mexico on May 22 and Wales on June 2, as they prepare for Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance. Drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, Ghana aims to reach the knockout stages for the first time since 2010.
