The Girl Child Education Unit of the Ejisu Municipality in the Ashanti Region has organized a mentorship programme for female students and teachers aimed at empowering young girls for a brighter future.
The programme brought together female students from both senior and junior high schools across the municipality. It focused on guiding the girls on personal development, proper dressing, and life skills to help them manage challenges both in school and beyond.
Speaking in an interview, Chief Executive Officer of Shalom Heights, Mrs. Rita Boateng, stressed the importance of continuous mentorship for girls, urging them to set clear goals for their future.

“It is time we encourage our girls to set goals and work towards achieving them. With proper guidance from parents and teachers, they can build a better future for themselves,” she said.
Mrs. Boateng highlighted that many female students require strong guidance to shape their behavior and decisions, emphasizing that good morals and values are essential for their development.
“Most of these girls need direction. When we guide them well and instill discipline and values, they will grow into responsible women,” she added.

She also called on stakeholders—including NGOs, institutions, and corporate bodies—to support and expand mentorship programmes for girls in the municipality.
“We are calling on stakeholders to come on board and support such programmes to secure a better future for our girls,” she appealed.
Also speaking at the event, Abigail Boakye, the 2025 Best Teacher in the Ejisu Municipality, highlighted key challenges facing female students, including lack of guidance and low self-confidence.
“Some of the girls lack confidence and proper guidance, and this is affecting their ability to pursue their dreams,” she said. She added that mentorship programmes, if replicated across the Ashanti Region, could help build the confidence and capabilities of female students.
“If we intensify mentorship programmes across the region, it will motivate the girls and help them build their future,” she concluded.
