A devastating rainstorm swept through Mframa, a farming community in the Sene West District, on Sunday, leaving one dead, several injured, and more than 700 homes affected.
The storm, which began around 4:00 p.m. GMT and continued into the night, brought heavy rains, strong winds, and widespread flooding, forcing residents to flee for safety.

Among the casualties was a nine-year-old girl, who lost her life amid the chaos.
Her mother, Adubea Elizabeth, described the scene as “a battle for survival,” narrating the helplessness she felt while watching her community struggle against the destructive storm.

Many residents have been rendered homeless, with roofs torn off and walls damaged.
Other victims spoke to Adom News, appealing for urgent support, including food, temporary shelter and clothing.

The storm’s intensity highlights the vulnerability of rural communities to extreme weather events, a situation worsened by the predominance of poorly constructed homes.

Local authorities have yet to provide an official assessment, but initial reports indicate that almost the entire community suffered some form of damage.

In the aftermath, relief efforts are expected to prioritize the most affected households.
