President John Dramani Mahama has been awarded the International Statesperson Award by the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, the institution’s highest honour recognising outstanding global leadership.

Established in 1973, the award is presented to individuals whose work has significantly contributed to peace, freedom, and lasting influence in international affairs.

With this recognition, President Mahama becomes the first African leader to receive the accolade.

In his acceptance remarks, he credited his commitment to peacebuilding and development to the enduring influence of some of Africa’s most iconic figures, including Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, and Kenneth Kaunda.
