A fire outbreak has destroyed a shop and adjoining storeroom near the Battor Post Office in the Volta Region, raising fresh concerns about fire safety in commercial areas.

The incident occurred on March 25, 2026, with flames rapidly engulfing part of the structure before emergency responders arrived.

By the time the fire was brought under control, the storeroom had been significantly damaged, with goods and property lost in the blaze.

The fire also threatened nearby facilities, including the Battor Post Office, but was contained before it could spread further.

No casualties were reported.

Authorities have since cautioned the public to observe proper electrical safety measures, particularly avoiding overloaded sockets, which are often linked to such incidents.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire.
