Former Black Stars assistant coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to consider calling up Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi for the 2026 World Cup squad.

Both players, reportedly open to switching their international allegiance, have sparked discussions among fans and analysts about their potential impact on the senior national team.

Dramani, who served on Otto Addo’s technical bench during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, revealed that Ghana previously tried to recruit Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi, but those efforts were unsuccessful.

Currently with Crystal Palace, Nketiah, and Nottingham Forest winger Hudson-Odoi were not included in Ghana’s recent friendlies against Austria and Germany, part of preparations for the Mundial.

In an interview with Graphic Sports, Dramani acknowledged the timing challenges facing the Black Stars but stressed that the door should remain open for the duo.

“I personally think team building takes time, and too many new faces may not find the cohesion and fluidity of the team chemistry. Three months is too short to introduce too much freshness,” he said.

“Ghana has been fortunate to have quality in the wide areas, but the quality of these two players is huge. I remember we made several attempts to get them to join the Black Stars before and after Qatar,” Dramani added.

He also highlighted the personal nature of nationality switches, noting that such decisions can define a player’s career.

“These are lifetime decisions, and players need time to make such long-term choices about their careers. I’m not sure of their current status, but no one can doubt the quality and ability they would bring to the team,” he said.

Ghana is scheduled to face Austria on Friday, March 27, before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany on Monday, March 30.
