Ghana’s First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, is in Washington, D.C., to participate in the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit.
Her visit follows an invitation from Melania Trump, who is hosting the two-day gathering focused on the safety and well-being of children in the digital space.
The summit brings together first spouses from around the world to exchange ideas and develop strategies for creating a safer and more equitable digital environment for young people.
A statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, noted that ahead of the event, Mrs Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to protecting children online and ensuring technology serves as a tool for growth rather than harm.
“Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child. Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility,” she said.
The meeting is expected to focus on practical approaches to safeguarding children from online risks while promoting inclusive access to digital opportunities.
Mrs Mahama’s participation highlights Ghana’s continued engagement in global conversations on child protection and digital development.
