The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East Municipality in the Central Region, Emelia Ankomah, has donated 30,000 oil palm seedlings to over 700 farmers across the municipality, in an initiative aimed at boosting agricultural activities and improving livelihoods, particularly in communities affected by illegal mining (galamsey).
Speaking to Adom News correspondent Mohammed Radiu Dinn Rasko, the MP said the initiative targets farmers in more than 60 communities and is intended to encourage youth and women to venture into agriculture, creating jobs and fostering economic growth.

Lawyer Ankomah urged beneficiaries to nurture the seedlings carefully, emphasizing that the success of the program depends on their commitment.
She also revealed that agricultural inspectors will monitor the farms to ensure the seedlings are properly maintained and achieve their long-term impact.

Beneficiary farmers expressed their gratitude, noting that the support, now delivered directly to their communities, has eased the burden of accessing agricultural inputs and improved opportunities for sustainable farming.

“This donation is more than seedlings, it’s a chance to improve livelihoods, create jobs, and build stronger communities,” the MP said.
