Industry stakeholders are urging government to place greater emphasis on the role of Public Relations (PR) professionals in the planning and execution of major national communication campaigns.
The call follows concerns raised after the recent World Cup raffle launch, where key communication gaps were identified. Observers noted that although the initiative aimed to mobilise public support for the Black Stars, critical details needed to drive participation were not effectively communicated to the public.
According to communication experts, the situation highlights the consequences of sidelining PR professionals, whose core responsibility is to ensure clarity, consistency, and the strategic dissemination of information. They argue that the absence of coordinated messaging can weaken the impact of even well-intentioned national campaigns.
Analysts further stress that PR professionals play a vital role in shaping narratives, engaging the media, and ensuring that essential information reaches target audiences. Without their involvement, campaigns risk losing focus and failing to achieve their intended objectives.
They are therefore urging the government, particularly the office of Felix Kwakye Ofosu, to ensure that PR units across ministries are fully integrated into planning processes, especially for high-profile initiatives.
Experts maintain that prioritising PR professionals will not only improve message delivery but also strengthen public trust and participation in government programmes.
They add that going forward, all inter-ministerial committees and national campaigns must deliberately include PR practitioners to enhance coordination and maximise impact.
