Ghana has successfully evacuated all its citizens in Israel who requested government assistance, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced.

In a Facebook post, the Minister confirmed that the evacuation exercise, undertaken amid rising tensions in the region, ensured the safe return of affected Ghanaians.

According to the Minister, the operation also included some diplomatic staff from Ghana’s Embassy in Tel Aviv. However, a limited number of essential personnel have been retained to provide critical consular services.

“Our evacuation operation in Israel has been a success. We have safely evacuated all Ghanaians who expressed the desire to be assisted by the Government of Ghana out of Israel and back home,” the Minister stated.

The government expressed gratitude to both Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their cooperation in facilitating the process.

“I convey our appreciation to Israeli and Egyptian authorities for the cooperation,” the post added.

The Minister also extended a warm welcome to the evacuees who arrived in Ghana just hours before the announcement.

“We warmly welcome our compatriots who arrived in Ghana a few hours ago,” the statement noted.

The government assured that it will continue to prioritise the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad, indicating that evacuation efforts will persist where necessary.

“The Mahama Administration will continue with safe evacuation efforts as we prioritize the welfare of all Ghanaians,” the Minister emphasised.
