The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Lord Boam, has officially launched the Lord Boam Skills and Training Development Centre at Yeji, in a move aimed at equipping young people with employable skills for sustainable development.

The initiative, launched under the theme “Empowering Futures, Building Communities: Skills for Sustainable Development,” seeks to bridge the skills gap and promote technical and vocational education in the district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Boam explained that the establishment of the centre forms part of his broader vision to create opportunities for the youth and reduce unemployment in the Pru East constituency.

He noted that many young people in the area possess untapped potential that can be harnessed through skills training and entrepreneurship development.

According to him, the centre will provide practical, industry-relevant skills to empower beneficiaries to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

He added that the initiative aligns with national efforts to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a viable pathway to economic growth.

On his part, Bono East Regional Director of TVET, Appiah Kubi, urged Ghanaians to change their perception of vocational and technical education.

He stressed that TVET is not meant for academically weak students but serves as a critical component of national development.

Mr. Kubi encouraged parents and students to embrace skills training, emphasising that the future of work increasingly depends on practical competencies and innovation.

The launch of the Lord Boam Skills and Training Development Centre is expected to significantly boost skills development in the Pru East District, creating new opportunities for youth empowerment and community transformation.
