After 25 years of serenading Highlife lovers with his signature smooth vocals, Ghanaian music icon Kwaisey Pee is celebrating his legacy the best way he knows how — with new music.
The veteran Highlife star has officially released two singles, “Gye W’ani (Enjoy Life)” and “Akwaaba (Welcome),” from his latest EP, Agyaba. The tracks, released today, reaffirm his commitment to the authentic Highlife sound that has defined his career for more than two decades.
Born Akwasi Poku Addae, Kwaisey Pee remains one of the most respected voices in Ghana’s Highlife genre. Known for his silky vocals and timeless melodies, he has built a remarkable catalogue that continues to resonate across generations.
Over the years, he has delivered several beloved Highlife classics, including “Me Hia Odo,” “Krokro Me,” “Ohemaa,” and “Obaa Yaa,” songs that have cemented his status as a household name. His vocal excellence earned him critical acclaim, including the Best Male Vocal Performance award at the 2007 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The new single “Gye W’ani (Enjoy Life)” carries an uplifting message about embracing life and finding joy despite challenges, featuring lively guitar rhythms and classic Highlife instrumentation. Meanwhile, “Akwaaba (Welcome)” celebrates Ghanaian hospitality, unity, and culture, wrapped in rich melodies and a groove that invites listeners to sing along.
Both tracks form part of the Agyaba EP, a project that underscores Kwaisey Pee’s dedication to preserving Highlife while keeping the genre relevant in today’s evolving music scene.
