Nana Yeboah Asiamah, Chief of Gambia No. 2 in the Ahafo Region, has called on the Asutifi North District Assembly to provide skip containers to help address poor sanitation in the community.

He made the appeal during a recent cleanup exercise organized by the community in collaboration with the district assembly. In an interview with Adom News, Nana Yeboah Asiamah explained that the absence of skip containers has led to increased littering, posing serious health risks to residents.

According to the Chief, Gambia No. 2 is one of the largest communities in the district, yet the assembly has long overlooked the community’s need for waste management infrastructure. He stressed that providing skip containers is essential for tackling sanitation challenges effectively.

Nana Yeboah Asiamah assured that once the containers are provided, the traditional council and community members will take responsibility for transporting the waste to designated areas when full, even if the assembly cannot assist.

The District Chief Executive for Asutifi North, Hafiz Dauda, along with the Queen Mother of Gambia No. 2, Nana Adwoa Brago, commended the Chief’s efforts to improve sanitation. They also praised the residents for their impressive turnout during the cleanup exercise, describing it as unprecedented.

Both leaders urged residents to prioritize good sanitation practices, emphasizing that “health is wealth.”
