Police arrest 4 Bills Microfinance staff over alleged assault of woman

Police in Accra have arrested four men in connection with an alleged assault at Ashongman Estate involving officials of a microfinance company.

The arrests were made by the Kwabenya District Police Command following a complaint lodged by a resident of the area.

According to police, the complainant, Madam Hagar Emaser, 42, reported on March 13, 2026, that four men believed to be officials of Bills Microfinance visited her residence to demand repayment of a loan facility she had taken from the company. During the encounter, the men allegedly assaulted her while attempting to recover the money.

Police arrested the suspects on March 14, 2026. They have been identified as Denis Wornyo, 38; Albert Amarh, 40; Ebenezer Amartei, 23; and Atsu Lawson, 27.

The Accra Regional Police Command said caution statements have been taken from all four suspects as part of ongoing investigations. They are currently in police custody assisting with the probe.

Police have urged victims of assault and other criminal acts to promptly report such incidents to enable swift investigation and action.

The command also advised individuals who have grievances relating to loan transactions or other civil matters to pursue lawful and peaceful means of resolving their disputes.
