Former Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has described his tenure at the club as highly successful, despite facing several challenges.
Zito took over as interim coach midway through the 2024/25 season, succeeding Prosper Narteh Ogum. During his stint, he led Kotoko to an impressive trophy haul, including the FA Cup, Toyota Cup, President’s Cup, and the Champion of Champions title.
Ahead of the 2025/26 season, Zito was confirmed as the club’s permanent head coach. However, following a disappointing FA Cup exit to Aduana FC at home, he resigned from his position.
Reflecting on his time with the club in an interview with Akoma FM, Zito said, “Winning four cups in just 43 days is not an easy task. At the end of the day, I consider myself very, very successful with Kotoko. It wasn’t easy, but we made it happen.”
Prince Yaw Owusu has since been appointed as interim coach of Asante Kotoko, while Zito has moved on to take the head coach role at lower-tier side AshantiGold 04.
