More than 250 Fulani people have been displaced following attacks on Fulbe communities in Sawla District, particularly in Gbeniyiri and surrounding areas. The assaults left five people dead, while three others remain in critical condition.
The Savannah Regional Director of NADMO, Zakaria Mahama, told Adom News that relief items have been distributed to support the displaced persons, who are currently taking shelter at the palaces of the Kalbawura, Sengeri, Nakwabi, and Sawla.
He expressed concern over the plight of women and children among the displaced, many of whom lost husbands and fathers in the attacks, and urged the Fulani community to remain calm and avoid retaliation to help restore peace.
Mr. Mahama also appealed for support to fund eye treatment for five-year-old Musah Jallo, who was injured during the attacks.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Sengeri, Sengeri Kori, thanked the NADMO Regional Director for the assistance provided so far and appealed to the government for additional support for the affected communities.
