Motorists faced major delays on Tuesday morning after a fuel tanker overturned at Income Tax near the Ofankor Barrier on the Pokuase-Nsawam Highway, causing heavy traffic along the busy stretch.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, March 10, 2026, disrupting traffic on a key section of the Accra–Kumasi Highway and affecting commuters.

While the exact cause of the accident is not yet known, the overturned tanker blocked the road, forcing drivers to slow down and navigate a narrowed passage.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and other emergency responders were deployed to the scene to manage traffic and prevent further incidents.

Authorities also secured the area due to the presence of fuel in the tanker, as accidents involving petroleum products carry the risk of fire or explosion.

As of mid-morning, efforts were ongoing to remove the vehicle and fully reopen the affected section of the highway.
