The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says Ghana’s economy is currently in a stronger position than it was previously, pointing to ongoing investments and policy measures aimed at improving the country’s economic outlook.
Speaking ahead of the country’s independence anniversary on Friday, March 6, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said that although Ghana has experienced both successes and setbacks throughout its years of nationhood, steady progress has been made in strengthening the economy and social sectors.
In an interview on Joy FM’s Middaynews on Thursday, he said that since the current administration led by President John Dramani Mahama assumed office, deliberate steps have been taken to stabilise the economy and restore confidence.
“The economy is in much better shape than it was before,” he stated.
He explained that government has also prioritised investments in key social sectors, including education and healthcare as part of efforts to improve living conditions and promote national development.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu noted that these efforts align with the theme for this year’s independence anniversary celebration, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.” He added that the theme reflects the government’s commitment to rebuilding the economy while renewing optimism among citizens about the country’s future.
Despite past challenges, the government spokesperson emphasised that Ghana has remained united and tolerant, adding that the country continues to make incremental progress towards sustainable development.
