Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has praised Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo for his versatility and attacking prowess, saying he thoroughly enjoys watching the player in action.
Semenyo continued his fine run of form by scoring in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Hargreaves singled out Semenyo, insisting the Black Stars star has earned his spot in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
“He deserves the opportunity of playing with the best team, or one of the best teams, with the best players. He’s a fabulous player; he can play on the left, he can play through the middle, on the right, and he played as a split-striker today,” the former England international said.
“I love watching him play. He’s so versatile, he’s athletic, and he’s a good finisher. Where you want to be as a footballer is at the top, and he’s come all the way through the ranks — it’s quite an amazing story,” he added.
This season, Semenyo has scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 27 Premier League appearances.
The 26-year-old will aim to maintain his momentum when Manchester City host Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
