Matchday 24 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League concluded across the country over the weekend, delivering pivotal results at both ends of the table.
The round of fixtures, played on Friday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1, began on a sour note for Eleven Wonders, who slumped to a 2-0 home defeat against Nations FC at the Swedru Stadium. Goals from Joseph Effah and Emmanuel Annor, one in each half, secured a comfortable victory for the Abrankese-based side and compounded Wonders’ struggles.
At the summit, leaders Medeama SC saw their advantage trimmed after being held to a goalless draw by Swedru All Blacks at the Swedru Sports Stadium. In a cagey contest short on clear chances, neither side found the cutting edge, forcing the Tarkwa outfit to settle for a point. Medeama remain top with 46 points, but their once-commanding lead has shrunk to a single point.
Hot on their heels are reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars FC, who edged Hearts of Oak 2-1 in a gripping encounter. The Miners claimed a fourth straight league win to move to 45 points, intensifying the title chase.
Gold Stars made their early dominance count when Samuel Atta Kumi struck in the 15th minute. Hearts responded through Henry Kwaku Boateng to level the score and set up a tense battle. With the contest seemingly headed for a draw, Augustine Boakye produced a late winner to hand the champions all three points. The result leaves Hearts third on 40 points, still in contention but under growing pressure.
At the Baba Yara Stadium, Asante Kotoko were frustrated by a resolute Vision FC in a goalless stalemate. Kotoko dominated possession and created several openings but could not find a breakthrough, even after Vision were reduced to ten men following Mohammed Awudu’s dismissal. The Porcupine Warriors stay fourth, seven points adrift of the leaders.
Dreams FC revived their campaign with a vital 1-0 win over Aduana FC at the Tuba Astro Turf. John Antwi’s 67th-minute effort ended a six-game winless run and lifted Dreams to 11th, while Aduana’s title hopes took a hit as they slipped eight points off the top.
In the battle for survival, Hohoe United boosted their chances with a narrow 1-0 victory over FC Samartex 1996. Kekeli Attor’s early second-half strike proved decisive as Samartex’s away woes persisted.
Basake Holy Stars FC continued their strong home form with a slim win against Heart of Lions, who played much of the match with ten men. Prince Tweneboah’s goal secured consecutive home victories and eased relegation fears.
At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw against Young Apostles. Richmond Opoku’s opener looked set to earn the visitors maximum points, but Benjamin Abaidoo struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a point for Chelsea.
Elsewhere, Bechem United and Karela United played out a tense goalless draw at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Bechem finished with ten men after Rasco Abassah London’s late red card, yet Karela could not capitalise. Karela sit seventh on 35 points, while Bechem drop to 12th.
After 24 matches, Medeama lead the standings, closely followed by Bibiani Gold Stars, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. At the other end, Hohoe United, Young Apostles and Eleven Wonders remain in the relegation zone as the campaign gathers momentum.
