A late-night domestic fire at Kotei Twuduasi, near Fosuaa Homes Hostel in Kumasi, has left five bedrooms destroyed, GH¢84,000 in cash and property worth thousands of cedis reduced to ashes.
The blaze broke out at about 8:37 p.m., engulfing a seven-bedroom compound house and spreading rapidly through the structure.
By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had already taken hold of most of the building.
In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel from the KNUST Fire Station, led by ADO I Kwaku Baffour Awuah, reached the scene at 8:58 p.m. and found the fire in an advanced state. Reinforcements from the Regional Headquarters Substation were called in to support efforts to contain the inferno.
Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control at 9:36 p.m., before finally extinguishing the flames at 10:12 p.m.
Despite the scale of destruction, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
Two bedrooms were successfully salvaged, with their contents remaining intact.
The GNFS has commenced investigations to determine the cause of the outbreak.
