A heavy-duty trailer transporting cocoa beans on Friday overturned onto a police armoured vehicle at Gomoa Akotsi in the Gomoa East District.

Preliminary information indicates that the police vehicle, with registration number GP 1139 and attached to the Central East Regional Police Command, was parked on the shoulder of the road when the incident occurred. Officers were reportedly inside the armoured car at the time.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Adom News said the trailer’s head appeared to detach unexpectedly, causing the loaded container to topple and crash onto the stationary police vehicle.

Images from the scene show cocoa beans scattered across the roadway, with the police vehicle partially trapped beneath the fallen trailer.

A towing truck has since arrived to assist in removing the damaged armoured car from under the cargo. The extent of injuries, if any, has not yet been officially confirmed.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
