President John Dramani Mahama has shared a Valentine’s Day message with the widows of eight individuals who lost their lives in a tragic incident on August 6, 2025.
As Valentine’s Day was observed on Saturday, February 14, the President extended warm wishes to the bereaved women, offering comfort and solidarity as they continue to cope with their loss.

In a post on his social media platforms, Mr Mahama shared a group photograph of the widows accompanied by love emojis and the simple message: “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
The eight individuals died in a fatal incident on August 6, 2025, while travelling to a mining-related event in the Ashanti Region. The tragedy attracted nationwide attention and generated widespread sympathy for the families affected.
The loss left several households grieving, with the widows assuming responsibility for caring for their families in the aftermath. Since then, there have been ongoing appeals for sustained support for the affected families, with many individuals and organisations expressing solidarity.
The President’s message is viewed as part of broader efforts to maintain contact and show compassion to those directly impacted by the tragedy.
All eight occupants on board lost their lives. They included:
