The Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) has announced a 15 percent reduction in vehicle prices, citing the relative stability of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar and the removal of the COVID-19 levy as key factors behind the decision.

In a statement released in Accra on Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Union explained that the price adjustment reflects a previous commitment to the public to review costs downward once exchange rate conditions improved and pricing became more sustainable.

According to ADUG, vehicle prices in recent months were affected by exchange rate fluctuations, high import duties, shipping costs, and disruptions in global supply chains. The Union had repeatedly indicated that prices would be reassessed once economic pressures eased.

With the current improvement and relative stability in the exchange rate, ADUG said its members have implemented reductions across several vehicle categories, including brand-new models, hybrids, electric vehicles, and home-used cars.

“This decisive action reflects the Union’s long-standing promise to Ghanaians that any meaningful stabilisation of the exchange rate would translate into fairer vehicle pricing, rather than excess profiteering. We are pleased to state that our members have acted in good faith and with a strong sense of national responsibility,” the statement said.

Signed by ADUG National President Eric Kwaku Boateng, the statement also expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and continued trust in the organised automobile trade.

The Union further reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumer interests while contributing positively to the growth and stability of the national economy.
