The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya, Mike Oquaye Jnr, has pledged to work closely with former Member of Parliament for the constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to help secure victory for the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2028 general elections.

His assurance comes amid reports of strained relations between the two following their contest in the party’s parliamentary primaries.

Mr Oquaye Jnr, who lost the 2024 parliamentary election to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Elikplim Akurugu, said it was time to put the past behind them and focus on rebuilding unity within the party.

Speaking at a meeting attended by Dr Bawumia, Adwoa Safo and party supporters, he stressed that unity in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency would be crucial to the NPP’s electoral fortunes in 2028.

“Unity is key. I can assure you that in the coming months, my sister Adwoa Safo and I will visit you together in unity. Our joint visit will serve as clear proof of the unity and prosperity we believe will come under your leadership,” he said.

“United we stand, divided we fall. We will begin the unity Dr Bawumia has been preaching right here in Dome-Kwabenya,” he added.

Mr Oquaye Jnr further urged party faithful to intensify their efforts ahead of the next general elections.

“We need to put in extra effort to ensure Dr Bawumia becomes President of Ghana. We are one family, and we have full confidence in him. We love him as our brother,” he stated.
