The Accra Regional Police Command has uncovered new details in the alleged arson attack at the headquarters of Grace Town Power Ministry, widely known for its “Alpha Hour” prayer sessions.

Police have arrested a suspect, identified as Kesse Okyerewaa Koranteng, in connection with the incident, which occurred at the church’s premises within the Mile 7 District under the Tesano Division.

According to police sources, intelligence gathered on Monday, February 9, 2026, indicated that the suspect had unlawfully entered the church premises before allegedly carrying out the attack.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect entered the church auditorium with rubber containers filled with a liquid substance believed to be petrol.

During a visit to the scene, police retrieved four rubber containers suspected to have been used in committing the offence. The items have since been secured as exhibits as investigations continue.

The substance was reportedly sprinkled across parts of the auditorium and ignited with matches, triggering a fire outbreak.

The blaze caused extensive damage to church property, destroying air conditioners, chairs, windows, ten offering boxes, ceiling materials, electrical cables and the lighting system. The total cost of the damage is yet to be determined.

The suspect has been cautioned and remains in police custody, assisting with investigations.

The Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining safety and security and has urged residents to report any suspicious activity promptly to help prevent similar incidents.

Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
