Officers of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) have reportedly conducted a search at the residence of the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah.
The exercise is part of ongoing investigations into allegations related to the sale of government-sponsored foreign scholarships.
Mr. Nkansah’s lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, confirmed the development in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, noting that the officers did not have a warrant.
Earlier, Mr. Nkansah had been invited by the NIB to assist with investigations after President John Dramani Mahama instructed the agency to look into claims of payments being made to secure state-funded scholarships abroad.
His legal team dismissed reports suggesting he was arrested, describing them as inaccurate. According to the lawyers, Mr. Nkansah voluntarily honoured the invitation and fully cooperated with investigators, providing information relevant to the alleged dealings at the Scholarship Secretariat.
In a statement dated February 3, 2026, the Office of the President described the claims as “serious and of grave public concern” and directed the NIB to verify the allegations, identify persons involved, and submit its findings directly to the President for further action.
