The External Affairs Officer of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC), Alex Kobina Stonne, has participated in the 24th Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS) First General Assembly Meeting held on February 7, 2026, at Heritage Christian University in Amasaman.

The UniMAC delegation was led by Alex Kobina Stonne, External Affairs Officer, who is also a sports journalist with the Adom brands, including Adom FM, Asempa FM, and Adom TV. He was accompanied by Precious Agrobesa Akos, Secretary, and Faith Enyam Adjeivi, Treasurer of the External Affairs Office.

The General Assembly brought together student leaders from professional institutions across the country to induct newly appointed officers, receive institutional reports, and outline major programmes and projects for the year.

The gathering was guided by the quote, “You were not born to be noticed; you were born to be necessary,” by leadership expert Myles Munroe.

Key moments of the meeting included the swearing-in of GUPS leadership, the State of GUPS Address, and discussions on initiatives such as institutional visits, student entrepreneurship programmes, unity games, sports development projects, and student welfare campaigns.

Special attention was given to projects aimed at sustainability and opportunity creation for students, including GUPS Farms, GUPS on the Move, and the planned rollout of GUPS on Spot, an affordable internet service for universities.

Speaking after the meeting, Alex Kobina Stonne noted that UniMAC’s participation at the national level is critical to ensuring students benefit from broader opportunities, partnerships, and platforms that extend beyond campus life.

He added that his background in media and sports journalism positions the External Affairs Office to effectively project UniMAC’s interests and strengthen engagement with key stakeholders.

The External Affairs Office said engagements and insights gained from the GUPS General Assembly will inform future collaborations and programmes, as the office works to deliver practical benefits for UniMAC students while enhancing the university’s national visibility.
