The Overlord and people of the Sangul Traditional Area in the Tatale/Sanguli District of the Northern Region have honoured Adom News with a citation of appreciation for its sustained and impactful reportage that has helped transform lives in the community.

In a citation signed by the Overlord, John Kabuja Kumayi (Usangubor), the traditional authority expressed deep gratitude to Adom News for what it described as a yeoman’s service carried out by its Northern Regional Correspondent, Mr. Illiasu Abdul Rauf.

According to the citation, since 2017, Illiasu Abdul Rauf has consistently used his journalistic practice to spotlight the challenges facing residents of the Tatale/Sanguli District, particularly those in the Sangul Traditional Area.

The reports, the chiefs noted, brought national attention to the community’s plight and directly contributed to the attraction of critical development projects.

The citation credits Adom News’ reportage with facilitating the delivery of several life-changing interventions, including:

  • Eight dams to support agriculture and water access
  • One clinic to improve healthcare delivery
  • More than ten boreholes to provide clean drinking water
  • A facelift of the Tatindo Health Centre, among other projects

“But for Mr. Illiasu Abdul Rauf and Adom News, the Traditional Area would not have received these projects,” the citation stated, underscoring the role of responsible journalism in driving development and social change.

The traditional leadership described the recognition as a symbol of their deepest appreciation to Adom News for standing with the people of Sangul and amplifying their voices over the years.

The citation was officially endorsed with the Overlord’s signature, closing with the words “Ne ni lituln pam”—a message of gratitude—followed by a resounding “Thank You.”

The honour reinforces the growing acknowledgment of the media’s power not only to inform but also to influence policy, mobilize support, and deliver tangible development to underserved communities.
