The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially acclaimed Baba Ali Yussif as its parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso East by-election scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 9, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said the decision followed extensive consultations by the National Executive Committee (NEC) with key stakeholders.
According to the statement, a Constituent and Candidate Search Committee, chaired by former General Secretary John Boadu, engaged party stakeholders in the Ayawaso East Constituency and the Greater Accra Region before unanimously recommending Baba Ali Yussif.
The recommendation was subsequently endorsed at an expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting and a Delegates Conference held on Sunday, February 8, where Baba Ali Yussif was unanimously acclaimed as the party’s candidate.
The NPP has called on its members, supporters, and sympathisers to rally behind Baba Ali Yussif to secure victory in the by-election and ensure effective representation for the people of Ayawaso East.
